Three types of music videos
1.0: Performance based video.
A performance based video is when the artist of the song is presenting and singing the song in the video. The camera is mainly on the artist and they are preforming.
The music video that I have chosen to present as a performance based video is Dappy - Tarzan Freestyle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-E_tL6crdA
This is because throughout the song, it shows the artist, and the song is about his fame, and how famous he is now.
2.0: Narrative based video.
A narrative based video is when there is a story playing through the music video. The song is based and related to the story, and the protagonists in the video are usually played by actors. On rare occasions, the actor is playing a role in the story.
The music video that I have chosen to present as a narrative based video is Katy Perry - Last Friday night (T.G.I.F) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlyXNRrsk4A&ob=av2e
This video is classed as a narrative based story because it contains a story, which the artist is acting out. The music video also shows parts in the video, which does not include music, and is part of the story.
3.0: Concept based video.
A concept based video is when the music video relates to the song, but in a bizarre, abnormal way. The video usually consists of random objects or creatures. A concept based video can also be different by having many different camera angles or recording styles, e.g. webcam, handheld camera, etc.
The concept based video that I have chosen to present as a concept based video is Bruno Mars - The lazy song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLexgOxsZu0
This is labelled as a concept based video, becauses it consists of dancing monkeys in his bedroom. This is completely random, but makes the video very entertaining.
